At Sierra Pacific Home & Comfort, Inc., we believe in providing quality services to our customers. But we also believe in giving back to our community here in Sacramento, CA, and in the positive power of solar energy, which is one of the staples of our business. Solar panels from homes and businesses can increase energy independence and lower our carbon footprint. And the next generation is going to take solar technology to the next level.
That’s why we’re announcing a solar electricity scholarship program to help young people in the Sacramento, CA area move forward into the future. This is a one-year $500 scholarship to be used for tuition or books and allow the winner to make the most of their brighter tomorrow. Why Solar Energy?
We live in Sacramento, CA, which means we get tons of sunlight year ’round. Our city, and most of California, stand at the forefront of the development of solar technology. Because solar energy is infinitely renewable, it’s extremely environmentally friendly, and the technology is advancing in leaps and bounds every day.
We’ve seen the impact it has on homes in the area, and the way homeowners can save money on their monthly bills as well as help reduce their carbon footprint tremendously. We believe in encouraging investment and innovation in the field. That starts with young people and their education. We’ve created this scholarship in the hopes of furthering that and moving this exciting technology further into the 21st century.
The Format
The essay should cover the following topic:
"Why do you feel that solar electricity for the United States is important in the 21st century? What can be done to improve the growth of solar electricity for residential homes?"
The essay should be approximately 500 words long, and should be submitted no later than May 31, 2018. The winner will be selected by our management team and will be announced on June 30, 2018.
We need a minimum of 5 applicants for the scholarship to move forward.
